“Home is not a place – home is a feeling”, says this sign, spotted in a souvenir shop in an idyllic Tyrolean village. When thinking about “home” may be the house of your parents or your first apartment comes to your mind, or even a mobile home or a houseboat. Home is an individual’s private place of shelter and refuge and as Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is pointing out, home means also the right for protection. So, no wonder, about one quarter of the answers to the poll on our website “Which word best describes home for you?” did choose the answer “safety”.
