Funding the engagement of youth organisations has a tradition in Austria, especially since World War II, when organisations received public money to rebuild social life and calm hate between groups and peoples.
To apply the principles of youth work is a precondition to get funding since then. Paragraph 3.6 of these principles explicitly states: “Encouraging young people to tolerance, understanding and peaceful co-existence, mutual understanding within the national context as well as internationally“.
