The issue of integration has taken a permanent seat in the news. Also, media prize organisers are getting more aware of journalists who help us to better understand the increasing phenomenon of migration. One of these journalists is Nadja Sarwat, who grew up in Cairo and Vienna. She studied theatre, film and media science, worked for newspapers and the news industry, focusing more and more on women and migration. For her article “Islamic world: icons fighting for women’s rights“, published online for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF, she was awarded with a price. The article presents emancipated women in the Orient, from ancient Pharaohs to activists for women rights, researchers on gender issues and Web activists.
