With Brexit on the way, a new kind of integration value is under question: Is there a European citizenship? Many (especially young) people have mixed nationalities nowadays, they come to work in another EU country, they stay during and after an Erasmus-adventure, they bring their new love back home – and although it seems so easy to cross EU borders today, sometimes it turns out it is not easy at all to really feel home in the new home when an important part of the family of origin is living somewhere else.
We don’t usually see the need for integration of those “voluntary migrants”. But we can learn a lot from them, especially how they succeed to integrate – all by themselves, or with a little help from their friends. Let us be more attentive to them, passing on their experiences and engagement. We all can learn from each other.
