Omar Khir Alanam now lives in Graz. When coming as a refugee from Syria, he received so much helpful hands, he says, that he named the book he wrote about this life “Thank you: How Austria became my new home” (“Danke: Wie Österreich meine Heimat wurde”). The book was perceived very positively by the readers and since then, Omar Khir Alanam is a popular guest for interviews and readings. He is in training to be a social care taker and supports an organisation for kids in Styria with workshops at schools for the issue of children and youth rights. He even won a third place in a poetry slam championship – congratulations for finding your very own way!
